Mossend International Railfreight Park is a once in a generation opportunity to revolutionise rail freight connections to and from Scotland. The development will create real and lasting benefits for Scotland’s economy, environment and communities.
The proposed expansion by family-owned Peter D. Stirling Ltd (PDS) (current owners and operators of Mossend Railhead) and Carnbroe Estates will create facilities that are not currently available elsewhere in Scotland.
PDS, founded in 1870, first purchased land at Mossend more than 30 years ago to establish the Mossend Railhead. The site currently provides a direct road to rail link to logistics users all over the UK and Continental Europe via the Channel Tunnel.
Carnbroe Estates includes a land holding of 95 hectares, which formerly comprised Orchard Farm to the east and Carnbroe Mains Farm to the west of the West Coast Main Line (WCML). Both these sites are no longer actively used as farm locations.
